Hello! I am Dr. Gregory Tuttle and I am the Assistant Professor of Philosophy & Religion at Cedar Creek Community College.
I discovered this quirky little web comic called minus sometime last year. Mr. Armand’s insightful commentary on modern thought in an increasingly postmodern world struck me as a pleasant change from the run-of-the-mill web comic.
I’m always looking for new ways to engage my students in meaningful dialogue. Therefore, I created this blog as a learning experience for both myself and the students of my Introduction to Western Philosophy class. In it, I will go through each minus comic individually, unraveling the masterful metaphors employed by Mr. Armand in each strip, suggesting what it may have to offer us as commentary on the existential struggle of human life.
And, for 10% of their grade for the semester, the students are required to respond to at least 1 post a week. However, even if you’re not a student, feel free to become engaged in the debate!
I just discovered this comic today and started reading the archives, and fell in love with it. It rivals Calvin and Hobbes in terms of imagination. I love the watercolour paintings, and how it’s so simple but each strip is interesting.
I saw that your username was gtuttle, and I thought you might have been the person who runs the art gallery at the university here. Evidently you’re not
I’ll go take a look at this blog.
